Horseshoe Lake is a narrow, multi-armed lake in the eastern Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Horseshoe lies at the junction of several canoe routes and thus sees a relatively high amount of traffic for its size. There are six campsites on the lake.

Connections

  • A well-traveled 20 rod portage leads north to Caribou Lake and entry points #47 and #48 beyond.
  • A 50 rod portage connects the northwest arm of Horseshoe to Allen Lake.
  • A hilly 102 rod portage connects the southwest arm of Horseshoe to Gaskin Lake.
  • A 21 rod portage heads south to Vista Lake from the southern arm of Horseshoe.

Watershed

Horseshoe Lake drains east into the Brule River watershed.
