Kekekabic Trail

The Kekekabic Trail, commonly referred to as 'The Kek', is a backpacking trail that runs from the Fernberg Road near Ely, Minnesota to the Gunflint Trail outside Grand Marais, Minnesota. The trail runs through the center of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, and begins opposite the Snowbank Trail on the Ely side.

Entry point information

Entry Point #56: Kekakabic Trail (East). Method of travel is hiking. 36 mile trail. Very remote with difficult terrain. Most hiking trails have storm affected areas. Check for fire restrictions and current information prior to your trip. For more information, please call the Gunflint Ranger Station in Grand Marais at (218)387-1750.

Entry Point #74: Snowbank/Kekakabic Trail (West). Method of travel is hiking. Loop options include 26-40 miles of trail plus the Kekekabic Trail. Most hiking trails have storm affected areas.
