The Sag Corridor Fire (also known as the Romance Lake Fire) began On August 10, 1995, on an island on Romance Lake, south of Saganaga Lake. It is thought to have been human-ignited. The fire burned north and east, crossing the narrows of Saganaga to its eastern shore, and continued east to Maraboeuf Lake and into the Canadian Crownlands. The fire was contained on August 22 after burning 12,600 acres.

The results of this fire are most easily observed on the southeastern part of Saganaga Lake near the narrows, as well as on the lower Granite River including Maraboeuf Lake, Horsetail Rapids, and Saganaga Falls.

A significant portion of the Quetico was also burned in 1995, although by separate fires. Burned areas included Kawnipi Lake, the Falls Chain, and Saganagons Lake. Winchell Lake, in the southeastern BWCAW, also burned in 1995.
