U.S.-Canada border
From BWCAWiki
(Redirected from U.S.-Canada Border)
The international border between the United States of America and Canada comprises the northern limit to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. This international border was defined between northeastern Minnesota and northern Ontario as being the traditional canoe route from Lake Superior to Lake of the Woods.

Crossing the border
In order to cross the U.S.-Canada border, one must either travel through a customs-controlled port of entry or obtain a "CANPASS" remote area border crossing (RABC) permit from the Canadian government. Since the closure of the customs offices on Saganaga Lake and Basswood Lake in the 1990s, a CANPASS/RABC permit is the only option for canoeists visiting the Quetico or the Crownlands from the U.S.
