I'm Ahmoo. My name comes from the Ahmoo Creek, a short waterway that starts just to the north of Isabella Lake and flows into Hudson Lake. In 1989 I got lost hiking the Pow Wow Hiking Trail and camped along its banks. I love the area and enjoy exploring the long abandoned logging roads in the area. I've created my own website, http://ahmoocreek.com, to highlight my trips to the BWCA and other outdoor experiences.

Tripping History
- My first trip was in 1985 just before my senior year of high school in Fargo ND. I had heard about the BWCA from reading Outdoor Life or some similar publication and decided I had to visit. I found a friend who was similarly interested. I'd previously camped a couple times in my life, but was a pretty avid hunter at the time and very comfortable in the woods. We were total greenhorns and had a very "interesting" experience. 1985 was the year that the black bears were literally starving. We entered on Snowbank Lake. Our plan wass Knife Lake. We had our food pack stolen and ripped to shreds by a bear on the Boot Lake to Ensign Lake portage and decided to find a camp and hang low on Ensign after losing about 30% of our food. We hung out on Ensign for a couple days and then a day each on Ashigan Lake and Boot Lake. We didn't really do anything I was hoping to do and yet I absolutely fell in love with the place.
- I picked up an interest in backpacking while in college and started doing some 3-4 day weekend hikes while at Bemidji State. In this way I could decide on Thursday that Friday seemed light and no tests were due and leave after class and not have to worry about others. Solo hiking during the off-season worked out well for me.
