Winchell Lake Fire

From BWCAWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

in 1995, the Winchell Lake Fire burned from the steep, hilly south shore of central Winchell Lake to about half way to Brule Lake, including the small and remote Ott, Tremble, and Rug lakes. This fire, or a smaller fire at about the same time, also burned a small portion of the north shore of Winchell Lake, to South Otto Lake. The area of this fire is estimated at about 1200-1800 acres using Google Maps [1].

The fire appears to have been patchy, leaving pockets of unburned or less severely burned forest. The results of the fire are visible from nearly anywhere on Winchell Lake.

Another forest fire of note in 1995 was the Sag Corridor Fire.
